paul blanchard

Paul Blanchard was born in 1975 in Dallas, Texas. The son of enigmatic country singer Saratoga Red, the Texas native cut his teeth in some of the most famous honky-tonks that freckle the landscape of the great State. From an early age, Paul was encouraged to develop his ear for music, and was singing his father’s songs in various talent shows by the age of six. Paul received his first bass guitar from his uncle on his 10th birthday, and from that point on, the bass has been Paul’s instrument of choice. Though his musical tastes are rooted in early R&B, Paul’’s self-taught styling takes influence from many genres, most notably the progressive and psychedelic rock that came out of the late sixties and early seventies. Paul began writing his own music in high school, and has self produced three full length albums of solo material and co-produced a number of projects with long time friend and collaborator Rick Fontaine. Through the years, Paul has been a part of several bands in Dallas and Houston, to include Houston’s “American Chicken”, and with Rick in “Davenport”. Paul joined Back To Blue in 2009 after a 6 year break from performance following the birth of his two children. Back To Blue is a natural fit for Paul:– There is a common sensibility among the band that suits Paul’s passion for melodic low-end, singing and songwriting, and grass-roots rock & roll.
